I finished another 3-mile race last night. I took Braden with me this time. After 1 mile, he decided to leave me in the dust and I lost sight of him in a hurry. That kid is a machine! Three-fourths through the race, when I was fighting to keep my dang legs from giving out, I really thought to myself, what the devil am I doing this for?! Did I not learn from last week's race? My right knee was so not happy with me after that one. And frankly, the only part I like about running is when I'm all done. But, there were two unexpected surprises with this go round. I reacquainted myself with an old friend after the race: my calf muscle! We parted ways 9.5 years ago, when I was pregnant with my first child and gave up exercising all together. I thought we'd never meet again. But, she's making a come back! Second, I beat my first race time by over 3 minutes. We're still waiting on our times to be posted online. I know I was 32 minutes something. Braden didn't know to check out his time on the clock as he finished, so I'm really dying to see how he did. He was so awesome!

And I'm so happy you and the calf muscles have reunited!
Wow! Look at you go! You are running all kinds of races now! That is awesome. Way to go Braden for beating you. I think kids just naturally have more energy, I'm sure that had something to do with it. ;)
