Stockings were hung by the chimney with care....wait a minute. No, they weren't. That's because we packed them in a duffel bag to take to Utah with us. Unfortunately, we never made it out of the garage.
We spent most of last Friday night packing for our trip to Utah, geared up to spend Christmas with Dan's side of the family. We were to leave bright and early Saturday morning. We woke to about an inch or two of snow, and a storm was headed our way in a hurry. It would slow us down considerably, but we were prepared to make the trip at a slower pace. Everything was already packed, so all we had to do was place the cargo box on top of the car and get the suitcases inside. We would need to pull the car out of the garage.....Dan puts the key in the ignition...... and nothing happens. Car is completely lifeless. Doesn't turn over at all. We just had it serviced a week ago in preparation for the trip, so we couldn't figure out what the problem could be. Unlike our children, this car has always behaved and done exactly what we've asked of it.
We hooked up the jumper cables and after several attempts, the car finally jumped to life. Dan takes it for a spin around the neighborhood and while doing so, his mom calls at that exact moment with the details of a dream she had of us stuck in a storm. I didn't need anymore convincing that we weren't supposed to leave our home that day. (PS- the car was dead again the following day too.) While I've fancied up all types of scenarios of what could have happened to us had we left, I'd rather just express my gratitude to a loving Father in heaven who watches over His children.
